Prerequisites

Before you begin:
  • You have a Shopify store
  • You’re logged into your Shopify admin
  • You have at least one apparel product listed
Looksy works with all Shopify plans and themes. No developer required.

Step 1: Install Looksy

  1. Visit the Looksy app on the Shopify App Store
  2. Click “Install App”
  3. Click “Install” to confirm
  4. You’ll be redirected to your Shopify admin
Installation takes 30 seconds. Once complete, you’ll land in the Looksy dashboard.

Step 2: Enable Products

Choose which products will have virtual try-on:
  1. In the Looksy dashboard, click “Enable by Collection”
  2. Select the collection(s) you want to enable (e.g., “Dresses,” “Tops,” “New Arrivals”)
  3. Click “Save”
Benefits:
  • All products in the collection are automatically enabled
  • New products added to the collection are automatically included
  • Easy to manage and scale

Option B: Enable Individual Products

  1. In the Looksy dashboard, click “Enable by Product”
  2. Search for products and toggle them on
  3. Click “Save”
Benefits:
  • Fine-tuned control over which products offer try-on
  • Test on bestsellers first
  • Gradually roll out the feature
Start with 10-20 products in categories that work well (tops, dresses, jackets). Expand based on performance.

Step 3: Add the Try-On Button to Your Store

The Looksy button is added using Shopify app embeds:
  1. Go to Online Store → Themes in your Shopify admin
  2. Click “Customize” on your active theme
  3. In the theme editor, click on the “App embeds” section (usually in the left sidebar)
  4. Find “Looksy Virtual Try-On” and toggle it ON
  5. Click “Save” in the top-right corner
The “Try On” button will now appear on all enabled product pages.

Customize Button Styling (Optional)

The button appears on your product images. You can customize how it looks:
  1. Go to Looksy admin → Customize Button
  2. Adjust button text (“Try On” is default)
  3. Change colors to match your brand
  4. Adjust size (padding, font size)
  5. Choose corner position (top left or top right)
  6. Click “Save”

Step 4: Test It

Visit a product page on your live store and try it out:
  1. Navigate to a product with virtual try-on enabled
  2. Click “Try On”
  3. Upload a selfie (or take one with your camera)
  4. See the result in seconds
Use a full body shot for best results. Make sure only one person is in the photo.

What to Check

  • Does the button appear on the product page?
  • Is it easy to find and click?
  • Does the try-on render quickly and accurately?
  • Does it work on mobile devices?

Step 5: Optimize for Best Results

Product Images

Looksy works with any product images. What helps accuracy:
  • Multiple angles – Upload different views (max 4 images per product)
  • Detail shots – Close-ups showing texture and material
  • Any background works – Plain, complex, or busy backgrounds all work
  • Higher resolution helps – 1200px+ recommended but not required

Button Styling

Customize the button to make it stand out:
  • High contrast colors – Choose colors that pop against product images
  • Clear button text – “Try On” is short and action-oriented
  • Appropriate size – Not too small, not too large
  • Corner position – Top left or top right based on your product images
  • Clear, action-oriented copy (e.g., “Try On”)

Mobile Testing

Test the experience on your phone:
  • Is the button easy to tap?
  • Does the upload flow work smoothly?
  • Do results render quickly?

Step 6: Promote the Feature

Let customers know virtual try-on is available:

On Your Store

  • Add a banner to your homepage: “Try clothes on virtually before you buy”
  • Mention it on collection pages
  • Include in product descriptions: “Use our virtual try-on to see it on yourself”

In Marketing

  • Feature in new product launch emails
  • Promote on social media
  • Highlight in abandoned cart emails
  • Create tutorial content showing how to use it

Step 7: Track Performance

Monitor results in your Looksy dashboard:
  • Engagement rate – What % of visitors use virtual try-on?
  • Conversion lift – Do products with try-on convert better?
  • Return rate – Are returns lower for try-on products?
  • Product performance – Which products drive the most engagement?

Common Setup Issues

Solution: Ensure you’ve enabled the Looksy app embed in your theme settings (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds). Also verify that the product is enabled in your Looksy dashboard.
Solution: Clear your mobile browser cache and test again. Ensure your theme is mobile-responsive and that the app embed is enabled globally (not just on desktop).
Solution: Add multiple product images (max 4) showing different angles and details. The AI uses up to 4 images for better accuracy. Looksy works with any images—don’t reshoot or adjust backgrounds/lighting.
Solution: Go to Looksy admin → Customize Button. Adjust colors, text, size, and corner position (top left or top right). The button appears on product images and cannot be moved elsewhere.

Complete these steps to go live with Looksy:
  • Install Looksy from the Shopify App Store
  • Enable products (by collection or individually)
  • Turn on the Looksy app embed in theme settings
  • Test on a live product page (desktop and mobile)
  • Verify image quality meets standards
  • Ensure button is visible and easy to find
  • Promote the feature on your homepage
  • Set up conversion tracking in analytics
