How do I set up Looksy?

Install Looksy from the Shopify App Store, choose which products should offer try-on, enable the Looksy app embed once, and test the button that Looksy places over the main product image. Theme markup and product imagery vary, so verify the result on your own store before promoting it.

1. Install the app

  1. Open the Looksy Shopify App Store listing.
  2. Select Install and approve the requested Shopify access.
  3. Complete or deliberately skip the optional onboarding steps shown in Looksy.
The onboarding wizard has seven resumable steps:
  1. welcome;
  2. a product demo, which can be skipped;
  3. store goals, which can be skipped;
  4. product placement—every product, selected collections, or selected products;
  5. the theme app embed;
  6. plan selection; and
  7. attribution, which can be skipped.
Looksy saves progress so an in-progress setup can resume. Product placement, a working theme embed, and the store’s current plan state are checked separately; finishing a survey step does not prove that the storefront is ready.

2. Choose products

Looksy can be targeted broadly or to selected collections or products. Start with a representative set that has clear product imagery, then expand after you review the shopper experience.
  • All products: fastest broad rollout, with individual exclusions where needed.
  • Collections: applies the setting to active products currently in the selected collection. Products added later are not changed automatically.
  • Products: useful for a controlled test or exceptions.
Confirm saved targeting on the Products and Collections screens. Recheck collection controls after catalog changes. Product and variant settings can affect whether the button appears on a specific page.

3. Enable the theme app embed

  1. In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes → Customize for the intended theme.
  2. Open App embeds.
  3. Enable Looksy Try-On Button.
  4. Save the theme.
The dashboard’s Customize button action can also open the relevant theme-editor controls. Custom themes may need additional verification.
The app embed is the theme-wide on/off switch, not a block you place on each product page. Once enabled, Looksy finds the main product image on eligible product pages and adds the Try On button there automatically.

4. Adjust the product-image button

In the Looksy app embed settings, review the button’s image corner, text, colors, icon, typography, spacing, and offsets. These controls adjust the button over the product image; they do not place the app embed in the page layout. Available controls can vary with the installed extension version. Save, then check representative desktop and mobile product pages.

5. Test the shopper flow

On an enabled product page:
  1. Confirm the button appears over the main product image without covering important details or controls.
  2. Start try-on and use a clear photo of one person.
  3. Check that the generated preview appears in the same product-image area and review its limitations.
  4. Test a relevant variant, another product template, and a mobile device.
  5. Confirm the test activity and credit usage appear where expected in Looksy.
A try-on is a visual preview, not a sizing guarantee. Keep size charts and fit information available.
