What to Do After Installation

You’ve installed Looksy—now what? This guide walks you through the first 24 hours to ensure you launch successfully and start seeing results immediately.
Virtual try-on works automatically once installed. This guide helps you test, customize, and promote the feature for maximum impact.

Hour 1: Test & Verify

Goal: Confirm virtual try-on is working correctly.

Desktop Testing

  1. Visit a product page on your store
  2. Look for the “Try On” button on the product image (appears as a corner badge)
  3. Click the button to open the try-on modal
  4. Upload a test selfie (or use your phone’s camera)
  5. Wait 15-20 seconds for the result
  6. Verify the try-on looks realistic
If the button appears and try-on works, you’re all set on desktop.

Mobile Testing

  1. Open your store on your phone (actual device, not browser resize)
  2. Navigate to a product page
  3. Tap “Try On” on the product image
  4. Take a selfie or upload from photo library
  5. Verify the result displays correctly
Mobile accounts for 70%+ of try-ons. Mobile testing is critical.

Troubleshooting

If the button doesn’t appear:
  • Check app embed is enabled: Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds → Looksy Try-On Button → Toggle ON
  • Clear browser cache and test in incognito mode
  • Verify you’re on a product page (not collection or homepage)
See Common Issues for detailed troubleshooting.

Hours 2-4: Customize & Configure

Goal: Make the feature match your brand and optimize placement.

Customize Button Appearance

Go to Looksy Dashboard → Customize Button to adjust: Button Text Options:
  • “Try On” (default, highest engagement)
  • “See it on you” (benefit-focused)
  • “Virtual try-on” (descriptive)
  • Custom text (your choice)
Button Position:
  • Top Left (default, most visible)
  • Top Right (alternative placement)
Button Colors:
  • Use theme styling (automatic, recommended)
  • Or customize colors to match your brand
Start with defaults. They’re optimized for engagement. Customize only if needed for brand consistency.

Review Product Selection

By default, all products are enabled for virtual try-on. You may want to disable certain products: Products to consider disabling:
  • Very revealing garments (lingerie, swimwear)
  • Products without clear product images
  • Items that don’t work well (accessories, pants - if results aren’t good)
To disable products:
  1. Go to Looksy Dashboard → Products
  2. Browse or search for products
  3. Toggle off specific products
  4. Click Save
Start with all products enabled. Disable only if you see poor results or high error rates for specific items.

Check Analytics Setup

  1. Go to Looksy Dashboard → Analytics
  2. Verify data is tracking (you should see your test try-ons)
  3. Note your current credit balance (starts at 25 credits on free plan)

Hours 4-8: Plan Promotion

Goal: Let customers know virtual try-on is available.

Draft Homepage Banner

Create a banner to announce the feature: Headline options:
  • “Try before you buy with virtual try-on”
  • “See how it looks on you”
  • “New: Virtual try-on available”
Call-to-action:
  • “Shop now” → Links to collection page
  • “Try it” → Links to featured product
Banner placement:
  • Top of homepage (high visibility)
  • Above product grid
  • In hero section

Plan Email Announcement

Subject line ideas:
  • “New feature: Try on before you buy”
  • “See yourself in our products”
  • “Virtual try-on is now available”
Email content:
  1. Announce the feature
  2. Explain how it works (simple 3-step process)
  3. Highlight benefits (confidence, fewer returns)
  4. Include product images with “Try On” button visible
  5. Call-to-action to shop and try
Timing: Send within 24-48 hours of launch

Schedule Social Media Posts

Platform-specific content: Instagram:
  • Post showing before/after try-on
  • Story with “Swipe up to try”
  • Reel demonstrating the feature
Facebook:
  • Announcement post
  • Link to featured product
  • Encourage comments and shares
TikTok:
  • Quick demo video
  • Show customer using feature
  • “POV: Shopping online just got easier”
Twitter/X:
  • Short announcement
  • GIF showing try-on process
  • Link to store

Add to Product Descriptions

Update product descriptions to mention virtual try-on: Example copy:
“Use our virtual try-on feature to see how this looks on you. Just click ‘Try On’ above the product image and upload a selfie.”
Add this to:
  • Top-performing products (first priority)
  • New arrivals
  • Products with high return rates

Hours 8-12: Optimize Visibility

Goal: Ensure the button is visible and obvious to customers.

Check Button Visibility

On desktop:
  • Is the button visible without hovering?
  • Does it stand out from the product image?
  • Is it clearly labeled?
On mobile:
  • Is it large enough to tap easily?
  • Does it appear above the fold?
  • Is text readable?

Test on Multiple Browsers

Test on:
  • Chrome (desktop & mobile)
  • Safari (desktop & mobile)
  • Firefox
  • Edge
Verify button appears consistently across browsers.

Gather Feedback

Ask team members to test:
  • How intuitive is the button placement?
  • Is the try-on process clear?
  • Any confusion points?
Make adjustments based on feedback.

Hours 12-24: Monitor & Iterate

Goal: Track initial usage and identify any issues.

Check Analytics

Go to Looksy Dashboard → Analytics and review: Key metrics:
  • Total try-ons: How many customers have used it?
  • Top products: Which products are getting tried on most?
  • Credit usage: How fast are you using credits?
What to expect in first 24 hours:
  • 5-20 try-ons (depending on traffic)
  • 1-5 products tried on
  • 5-20 credits used
Low usage in first 24 hours is normal. Promote the feature to increase awareness.

Note Any Issues

Common issues to watch for:
  • Button not appearing on certain products
  • Try-on errors for specific products
  • Mobile layout issues
  • Slow loading times
Document issues and refer to:

Monitor Credit Usage

Credit consumption:
  • Free plan: 25 credits
  • Each try-on uses 1 credit
  • Monitor daily usage
When to upgrade:
  • Running low on credits (< 10 remaining)
  • High engagement (> 100 try-ons/month)
  • Want advanced features
See Pricing for plan options.

Plan Next Steps

Week 1 priorities:
  1. Promote the feature (homepage, email, social)
  2. Monitor performance (engagement, credits, issues)
  3. Optimize images (ensure high quality product photos)
  4. Gather customer feedback (surveys, comments)
Week 2 priorities:
  1. Analyze data (which products perform best?)
  2. A/B test button copy (if engagement is low)
  3. Expand promotion (ads, influencers, partnerships)

Quick Wins for Maximum Impact

Top 3 actions with highest ROI:
  1. Promote on homepage (10x increase in awareness)
  2. Send email to subscribers (40% engagement spike)
  3. Test on mobile first (70%+ of try-ons happen on mobile)
Focus on these in your first 24 hours for best results.

Common Questions

How many try-ons should I expect in the first 24 hours?

Typical range: 5-20 try-ons Factors that increase usage:
  • High traffic (> 500 visitors/day)
  • Active promotion (homepage banner, email)
  • Clear button visibility
  • Mobile-optimized experience

Should I promote the feature immediately?

Yes. Customers won’t know virtual try-on is available unless you tell them. Promote from day 1 for maximum impact.

What if no one uses it in the first 24 hours?

Normal for low-traffic stores. If you have < 100 visitors/day, it may take a few days to see usage. Action steps:
  • Verify button is visible
  • Test on mobile
  • Promote via email and social media
  • Check product page traffic

When should I upgrade to a paid plan?

Upgrade when:
  • You’ve used 20+ of your 25 free credits
  • You’re seeing consistent daily usage
  • You want more try-ons/month
See Pricing for plan options.
