Virtual try-on in Russian

Russian is one of the 47 languages enumerated on Looksy's Shopify App Store listing. If you sell to Russian-speaking shoppers, here is what the language support covers, what to verify, and how to set your store up.

Russian shoppers and your product pages

Russian is written in the Cyrillic alphabet and is an official language of Russia and Belarus, with official status in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and wide use across the Caucasus, Central Asia, and diaspora communities. Two things matter for product pages: your theme's fonts must include full Cyrillic glyph coverage, and Russian distinguishes the formal Вы from the informal ты, so your store copy needs to pick a register and hold it. Translated Russian text also tends to run longer than its English source, which can crowd buttons and labels.

What Looksy's language support covers

Russian appears in the 47-language enumeration on Looksy's Shopify App Store listing. What the listing does not publish is translation depth — whether that covers the shopper-facing try-on interface, the merchant dashboard, or both. Rather than assume, install on the Free plan and click through the try-on flow with your storefront set to Russian before you promote the feature to Russian-speaking shoppers. It helps that the core of the product is visual: a photo of the shopper wearing the garment reads the same in any language.

Setting up for Russian-speaking shoppers

Set Russian as a store language under Shopify's language settings and publish it, then add Looksy's try-on block through the theme app extension — no theme code edits are needed, and uninstalling leaves nothing behind. Use the Free plan's unlimited try-ons to test as a shopper would: check that button microcopy renders in your theme's fonts with proper Cyrillic glyphs rather than a fallback face, that longer Russian strings do not overflow buttons, and that the flow reads naturally from product page to result.

The try-on flow in any language

The mechanics are the same in every locale. A shopper uploads one photo — no app install, no account, no camera permission — and sees themselves in the product on the page in about 20 seconds. They can retry, leave feedback, download the image, or share it. The Free plan includes unlimited try-ons with Looksy branding, up to $100 in additional revenue; Starter is $14.99 per month, Growth $29, and Scale $79, which adds realtime video try-on and removes the revenue cap. Billing runs through Shopify with no contracts.
