Virtual try-on in Italian
Italian is one of the 47 languages enumerated on Looksy's App Store listing. For merchants selling to Italian-speaking shoppers in Italy and Switzerland, here is what that listing does and does not tell you.
Italian shoppers and your product pages
Italian is the language of Italy and San Marino, and one of Switzerland's official languages, spoken chiefly in the canton of Ticino. It uses the Latin alphabet with accented vowels — è, é, à, ò, ù — that appear constantly in everyday commerce words. Like German and French, Italian keeps a formal-informal split: Lei for formal address, tu for informal, and fashion brands in particular vary in which register they choose. Whatever your store picks, third-party text on your product pages should not clash with it.
What Looksy's language support covers
Looksy's listing names Italian among the 47 languages it enumerates. What the listing leaves open is depth: it does not say whether translation covers the shopper-facing try-on interface, the merchant dashboard, or both. Treat that as a checklist item, not a blocker — the Free plan costs nothing and its try-ons are unlimited, so you can open your Italian storefront, run the flow, and judge every label yourself before mentioning the feature in marketing. The heart of the experience is an image of the shopper wearing your product, which works untranslated.
Setting up for Italian-speaking shoppers
Configure Italian in Shopify's store language settings first, whether as the primary language or as an added market language. The Looksy block is a theme app extension: you drop it onto the product page in the theme editor, edit no theme code, and get a clean uninstall if you ever remove it. Test on the Free plan the way an Italian shopper would arrive — from the product page, on mobile as well as desktop — and read the button, the upload prompt, and the result screen, checking accents render correctly and the register fits your brand voice.
The try-on flow in any language
The published mechanics hold in any language. One photo upload, a rendered result on the product page in about 20 seconds, and no app install, account, or camera permission along the way. Shoppers can retry, leave feedback, and download or share what they see. Looksy's plans run from Free — unlimited try-ons, Looksy branding, $100 additional-revenue cap — through Starter at $14.99 and Growth at $29, to Scale at $79 per month, which includes realtime video try-on and unlimited revenue. Billing is usage-based through Shopify, without contracts.
