Virtual try-on in Indonesian

Indonesian appears among the 47 languages enumerated on Looksy's Shopify App Store listing. Here is what merchants selling to Indonesian-speaking shoppers can verify, configure, and expect from the try-on flow.

Indonesian shoppers and your product pages

Indonesian, or Bahasa Indonesia, is the official language of Indonesia and the shared national language across an archipelago where many regional languages are spoken at home. It is a standardized form of Malay, written in plain Latin script with no diacritics, which makes it one of the least demanding languages typographically: any webfont that handles English handles Indonesian. For a Shopify store, the work is not rendering but translation quality — Indonesian is the neutral register shoppers across the country share, so product pages written in it travel well between regions.

What Looksy's language support covers

The Looksy listing enumerates 47 supported languages, and Indonesian is on that list. The listing stops there: it does not spell out whether support means the full shopper-facing try-on interface, the merchant dashboard, or both. Treat that as an open question with a cheap answer — install the app, switch your test store to Indonesian, and step through the try-on as a shopper on the Free plan before you announce anything. The result itself is an image of the shopper in your product, and an image reads the same in Jakarta as anywhere else.

Setting up for Indonesian-speaking shoppers

Add Indonesian in Shopify's language settings first, so the surrounding storefront — navigation, cart, checkout — matches the language your shoppers arrive in. Looksy then slots in as a theme app extension: enable its block from the theme editor, position it on the product page, and you are done without editing a line of theme code. Use the Free plan's unmetered try-ons to test end to end. Since Indonesian needs no special glyphs, your checks are about wording rather than rendering — read the try-on button and helper copy in context and make sure text lengths sit well in your theme's buttons.

The try-on flow in any language

Whatever language the interface shows, the flow does not change. One uploaded photo produces a try-on image on the product page in about 20 seconds, with no app to install, no account to create, and no camera permission to grant. Shoppers can retry the generation, give feedback, and download or share what they see. The Free plan carries unlimited try-ons with Looksy branding; Starter at $14.99 per month removes the branding and adds 100 photo credits; Growth at $29 raises that to 300; Scale at $79 brings 600 credits, usable for photo or video, plus Realtime video try-on.
