Product detail page (PDP)

A product detail page (PDP) is the page on an online store dedicated to a single product, showing its images, price, description, variant options and add-to-cart button. It is where a shopper decides whether to buy, which makes it the most consequential template on most stores — and the natural home for anything that answers fit or look questions.

What a PDP has to do

A PDP has one job: resolve the doubts standing between interest and add-to-cart. For clothing and accessories the recurring doubts are size, fit and how the item will look on the buyer, which model photography only partly answers. Reviews, size charts, delivery details and try-on tools all exist to close those gaps. And because ads and search results usually land on PDPs rather than the home page, a weak PDP wastes paid traffic.

PDPs on Shopify

On Shopify, PDPs are rendered from the product template in your theme, and every product shares that template unless you create alternates. Apps add features to it through app blocks — self-contained sections you place in the theme editor without touching theme code. Looksy installs this way: its try-on sits as a block on the PDP, and the shopper uploads a photo and sees the result on the same page, in the browser.

Measuring PDP changes

The PDP is where most on-page experiments show up, so track it with PDP-level metrics: add-to-cart rate, variant selection, and how many visitors leave without interacting. If you add a tool such as try-on, compare those numbers before and after rather than trusting vendor benchmarks — Looksy publishes none, and its analytics show what shoppers try on, add to cart and buy, so you can read the effect on your own store.
