Conversion rate
Conversion rate is the percentage of store visitors who go on to buy, calculated by dividing orders by sessions over the same period. Shopify reports it as online store conversion rate and breaks it into three stages — added to cart, reached checkout, and converted — which makes it less a single number than a short funnel. Most stores convert only a small fraction of their traffic, so small changes to the rate carry real money.
How to read it on Shopify
The three-stage breakdown tells you where shoppers leave. Weak add-to-cart with healthy traffic points at the product page: price, photography, missing information. Strong add-to-cart but weak checkout completion points at shipping costs, payment options or forced account creation. Always compare like against like — conversion varies by traffic source, device and season, so a paid-social spike or a sale weekend will move the number for reasons that have nothing to do with your site.
What actually moves it
Traffic quality first: visitors who arrived searching for what you sell convert far better than cold audiences, so a falling rate often signals a marketing change, not a site problem. On the page, shoppers convert when uncertainty falls — clear pricing and shipping, real photographs, size and fit information, visible reviews. For clothing, fit doubt is usually the biggest single hesitation, which is why product pages that resolve it tend to outperform those that leave the guess to the shopper.
Conversion and try-on tools
A try-on tool aims at the uncertainty step: the shopper sees the product on themselves before deciding. Looksy does not publish a conversion benchmark — no honest vendor can promise one, because the effect depends on your products, traffic and prices. Its Analytics shows what shoppers try on, add to cart and buy, so you can set try-on sessions against your store’s baseline and judge the effect on your own numbers rather than someone else’s.
