When should I upgrade from the free try-on plan?
Upgrade when Looksy attributes close to $100 in additional revenue — the Free plan’s cap — or when the Looksy branding shown to shoppers no longer fits your store. After that, pick the paid tier that matches your monthly try-on volume.
The $100 additional-revenue cap is the first trigger
The Free plan allows unlimited try-ons but caps additional revenue at $100 — the plan’s only usage limit. On a store with real traffic it is the limit you will eventually meet, and it is a good problem: it means try-on is producing orders. The listing states the cap but not how Looksy attributes revenue to try-on or what happens when you reach $100, so check the app’s dashboard for where the figure is reported and ask support what the app does at the limit before you depend on it. Starter raises the cap to $500, Growth to $1,000, and Scale removes it.
Branding removal starts at Starter
Every Free-plan store shows Looksy branding to shoppers; removing it is a Starter feature at $14.99 per month. Whether that matters depends on your positioning. A store built on a polished, controlled brand may want the widget unbranded before driving paid traffic to product pages. A store still validating whether shoppers use try-on at all can usually live with the badge. If branding is your only reason to upgrade, Starter is the cheapest route — it also brings 100 photo try-on credits, unlimited size help, and bundles and email capture, so you are not paying for the removal alone.
Matching Starter, Growth, or Scale to your try-on volume
Free usage data makes this decision concrete: the Free plan allows unlimited try-ons, and Looksy’s analytics show what shoppers try on, which tells you your real monthly volume. Under roughly 100 try-ons, Starter ($14.99) covers you, with additional credits at $0.14. Around 100 to 300, Growth ($29) is cheaper per credit with $0.12 overage and lifts the revenue cap to $1,000. Scale ($79) carries 600 credits usable for photo or video, drops overage to $0.10, removes the revenue cap entirely, and is the only plan with Realtime video try on. Pick the tier your last two or three months of volume actually fits.
When staying on Free is the right call
Do not upgrade on ambition. If Looksy has not yet attributed revenue anywhere near $100, and the branding is not blocking a specific plan — a launch, a paid-traffic push, a brand refresh — Free is still doing its job. Its unlimited try-ons mean you are not rationing the feature while you learn which products shoppers actually try on; the analytics answer that. Upgrade when a concrete number forces it: attributed revenue approaching the cap, or monthly try-on volume that maps clearly onto a paid tier — not before.
