Does virtual try-on work for footwear and sneakers?
Sneaker shoppers mainly wonder how a colorway looks on them and with their clothes. That is a visual question an image can answer. Looksy publishes no footwear-specific claims, so test your own shoes on the Free plan's unlimited try-ons.
What sneaker shoppers hesitate over
Most sneaker hesitation is visual: does this colorway suit me, do these look right with what I actually wear, are they too bulky for my frame. Product photography shows the shoe on a model or on white — it cannot show it on the shopper. A try-on image is aimed at exactly that gap. What it is not aimed at is fit: width, arch support, and comfort are physical questions, and no image answers them, which is why your size chart and materials copy still need to carry that load.
Does Looksy specifically support shoes?
Looksy's App Store listing describes AI try-on for photo and live video, but it publishes no category-by-category claims about footwear. So do not take a blanket yes on faith, including from this page. How the model renders a low-top versus a knee-high boot, or a foot partly covered by trousers, is exactly the kind of unpublished specific to verify yourself in-app. The listing does publish one relevant rule: clear, product-focused photos generate the best results — so hold your shoe images to that standard, clean and uncluttered, before you judge what comes back.
Testing sneakers on the Free plan
The Free plan includes unlimited try-ons, so a real footwear test costs nothing but time. Install Looksy, add the app block to a few best-selling shoe pages in the theme editor — no theme code edits — and run your own photos through it. Results land on the product page in about 20 seconds, and shoppers can retry with a different photo, so try several: full-length shots where feet are clearly visible, different angles, different lighting. Judge the outputs the way a shopper would: does the shoe read as the right shape, colorway, and proportion on a real body?
Reading the results before a full rollout
Looksy's analytics report what shoppers try on, add to cart, and buy. After a stretch on your best-selling sneakers, those three numbers tell you whether footwear try-on earns a wider rollout: shoppers trying shoes but not adding them may signal weak results or the wrong products enabled, while try-ons that flow through to purchase make the case for enabling more of the catalog. Looksy publishes no benchmark rates, so compare enabled pages against your own baseline. Upgrade to a paid plan only once the Free plan's data says the category works for your store.
