How do I prepare try-on for Black Friday?
Estimate your credit needs from recent try-on volume, check your plan's overage rate and additional-revenue cap against a traffic spike, and enable try-on on best-sellers first. Additional credits have published per-plan rates, billed through Shopify.
Start with your credit math
Look at your Looksy analytics for a normal week: how many try-ons happen and which products drive them. Multiply that by the traffic increase you expect over the Black Friday weekend — your own store history is the best guide. Compare the result against your plan's monthly allowance: 100 photo credits on Starter, 300 on Growth, 600 photo or video credits on Scale. The Free plan has unlimited try-ons, so credits are not the constraint there. If your estimate lands well past your allowance, decide now whether to upgrade the plan or absorb the overage.
What overages cost during a spike
The listing prices additional credits per plan: $0.14 on Starter, $0.12 on Growth, $0.10 on Scale, billed usage-based through Shopify with no contracts. That makes overage math concrete — 500 additional credits at Growth's rate is $60, not a surprise invoice. For a genuinely big weekend, compare paths: paying Starter's $0.14 rate on a large overage can cost more than stepping up a tier with a bigger allowance and a cheaper rate. Confirm in the app how additional credits behave when your allowance runs out — whether try-on pauses or continues at the per-credit rate — so the weekend follows a decision you already made.
Check your additional-revenue cap
Every Looksy plan except Scale caps the additional revenue it supports: up to $100 on Free, $500 on Starter, $1,000 on Growth. A cap that fits comfortably in a normal month is exactly what a Black Friday weekend can exhaust. Before the sale, check in the app what additional revenue Looksy attributes in a typical week, and scale that against your traffic forecast. If the projection crowds your cap, Scale's unlimited additional revenue is the published answer; if you are unsure how the cap behaves mid-spike, ask Looksy support before the weekend rather than during it.
Enable best-sellers, then watch the funnel
You do not need try-on across the whole catalog before the sale. Enable it on the best-sellers you expect to carry the weekend — they concentrate your traffic, so they concentrate whatever try-on adds. Position the app block in the theme editor ahead of time; there are no theme code edits, so setup stays clean. During the sale, check the analytics funnel — what shoppers try on, add to cart, and buy — daily rather than at month end, so you can spot a product where try-on is pulling weight and extend it while the traffic is still there.
