How do I launch try-on on a brand-new store?
Install Looksy free during setup, add the try-on block in the theme editor, and enable your hero products. A new store has no baseline data, so your first weeks of try-on analytics become the baseline.
Why a new store launches differently
An existing store rolls try-on out to proven best-sellers and measures the change against a known conversion baseline. A brand-new store has neither: no sales history to pick products from and no traffic data to compare against. That flips the sequence. Instead of measuring try-on against your numbers, your first weeks with try-on running become the numbers. You choose products by conviction and photo quality rather than sales rank, and you treat everything the analytics record as the starting line, not the result.
Install free while the theme is still in progress
Looksy installs as a theme app extension: you add the try-on block in Shopify's theme editor and position it on the product page like any other section, with no theme code edits. That makes store setup the natural time to do it — the block becomes part of the theme work you are already doing, and uninstalling is clean if you change direction. Start on the Free plan. It includes unlimited try-ons with Looksy branding and covers up to $100 of additional revenue, which is plenty of room for a store that has not opened yet.
Pick hero products, then check their photos
Without sales data, enable try-on on the products your launch marketing leads with — the hero pieces on your homepage and in your ads. Then hold each one to the published photo standard: clear, product-focused images generate the best results, and full views beat cropped shots for apparel. If a hero product only has cropped or busy lifestyle photos, fix that before launch rather than after. Shoppers will upload one photo and see a result on the product page in about 20 seconds, with no app, account, or camera permission — the product image is your half of that exchange.
Treat early analytics as your baseline, not your report card
Looksy's analytics show what shoppers try on, add to cart, and buy. On a new store, those first weeks of numbers are not a verdict on try-on — they are your baseline, the reference every later change gets measured against. Read them for direction: which products get tried on, and whether try-ons lead to carts. The Free plan covers up to $100 of additional revenue; if early sales push past that, Starter at $14.99 per month raises the cap to $500 and removes Looksy branding. Upgrade when the data forces the decision, not before.
