How many products should I enable try-on for first?
Start with a small set of best sellers — products with steady traffic and clear on-model imagery — rather than your whole catalog. A focused first set produces readable analytics quickly and keeps credit use predictable on paid plans.
Why best sellers make the strongest first set
Best sellers concentrate traffic, so try-on data accumulates fastest there — more sessions, more try-ons, more add-to-cart signal in a shorter window. They also tend to have your cleanest product imagery, which gives shoppers a clear reference when they judge their try-on results. And they are the products where an extra conversion is worth most, since demand is already proven. Enabling try-on across a long tail of slow movers spreads attention — and, on paid plans, credits — across pages that may see a handful of visits a week, which means waiting much longer to learn whether try-on is earning its place.
How your Looksy plan shapes the number
On Looksy’s Free plan, try-ons are unlimited up to $100 of additional revenue, so product count is not constrained by credits — you can test broadly, though a wide rollout reaches that revenue cap faster. On paid plans the math changes: Starter includes 100 photo try-on credits, Growth 300, and Scale 600 photo or video credits. Every enabled product is a page where shoppers can spend those credits, so a smaller first set keeps usage predictable. Additional credits cost $0.14 on Starter, $0.12 on Growth, and $0.10 on Scale — worth knowing before you switch on the whole catalog.
Reading the analytics before you expand
Looksy’s analytics show what shoppers try on, add to cart, and buy. With a focused first set, those numbers become readable within a normal traffic cycle instead of trickling in across hundreds of pages. How far the dashboard breaks results down per product is worth confirming in-app before you design your rollout around it — check what views Looksy gives you, then put its numbers next to your Shopify reports for the same products. That way try-on behavior is compared against each product’s baseline conversion rather than a store-wide average, and the products worth expanding from stand out.
When and how to widen the rollout
Expand when the first set shows a pattern, not on a fixed date. Add products adjacent to what already works — same category, similar imagery style — so earlier results stay a useful guide for what to enable next. On Starter or Growth, watch credit consumption as the list grows; the tiers at $14.99, $29, and $79 work as a rollout ladder, and upgrading makes sense when usage and additional revenue justify it. Products with weak or inconsistent imagery are worth fixing before they join the list, because shoppers judge their try-on results against the product photos on the same page.
