How long does a virtual try-on take?
About 20 seconds for a photo try-on. The shopper uploads one photo on your product page and the result appears in the same browser tab — no app download, no account, and no live camera permission.
About 20 seconds, in the browser, on the product page
Looksy generates a photo try-on in roughly 20 seconds. The shopper stays on your product page the whole time: they upload one photo, wait, and the result appears in the same browser tab. There is no app to download, no account to create, and no live camera permission to grant, so those 20 seconds are close to the entire experience rather than the last step of a longer signup flow. When the result lands, the shopper can keep browsing, add to cart, or download and share the image.
The slowest step is usually choosing the photo
Total time is upload plus render, and picking the photo can take longer than the 20-second generation itself. Shoppers upload an existing photo rather than posing for a live camera, so the ones who already have a clear, recent shot move fastest. A brief prompt near your try-on button — clear photo, full view for apparel — can reduce that hesitation without adding steps. Connection speed matters too: the photo has to upload before generation starts, so a shopper on weak mobile data may see a longer wait than one on wi-fi.
Retries add another short wait, not a restart
When a result misses — awkward pose, odd drape — the shopper can retry from the same page and leave feedback on the miss. Each attempt is another generation, so a retry costs about 20 more seconds rather than starting the visit over. From the merchant side, the open question is how retries interact with your monthly try-on credits; Looksy does not publish that detail on its listing, so check the behavior in the app or ask support before you model costs. Timing-wise, a second attempt is quick enough that retrying mid-browse is realistic.
Realtime video try-on runs on a different clock
On the Scale plan ($79/mo), Looksy adds realtime video try-on: instead of uploading a photo and waiting about 20 seconds for a still image, the shopper sees the product on themselves live. That makes video worth considering when the render wait itself is the friction you want to remove, or when movement matters more than a single frame. On Scale, photo and video try-ons draw from the same pool of 600 monthly credits. Photo try-on remains available on every plan, including Free, where try-ons are unlimited with Looksy branding.
