How does try-on fit into a product launch?

Try-on fits a product launch as a day-one product-page feature: the block lives in your theme, shoppers need only one photo for a result in about 20 seconds, and bundles, email capture, and analytics wrap around the drop.

Launch-day readiness: what is in place and what to check

The try-on block is a theme app extension: you add and position it in the theme editor with no theme code edits, so once it sits in your product template it is there when a new product page goes live. That leaves two things to confirm in the app before launch day: whether newly published products pick up try-on automatically or need to be enabled individually, and — if your launch takes pre-orders — how Looksy treats products that are not yet purchasable. Neither is a question to answer at 9am on drop day; check both in the app, or with Looksy support, the week before.

What try-on adds on launch day

A launch product carries no reviews and no history, so shoppers have less evidence to buy on. Try-on gives them a personal data point: they upload one photo and see the item on themselves in about 20 seconds, directly on the product page, with no app to install, no account to create, and no camera permission to grant. They can retry, leave feedback when a result misses, and download and share results. For a drop announced by email or social, that shareability matters — a shopper who posts a result is showing the new product on a real person during the exact window you want attention.

Bundles and email capture around the drop

Two Looksy features do extra work during a launch. Bundles & Upsells helps shoppers build looks and grow each order — during a drop, that means the new item can sell alongside proven catalog pieces rather than carrying the session alone; check in the app how much control you have over which products appear together. Email Follow-Up collects shopper emails, which you can use with Klaviyo or Shopify Flow — useful when launch traffic is high but many visitors are not ready to buy an unproven item on day one. Confirm triggers and flows in the app and your Klaviyo or Flow setup before launch so the sequence is live when traffic arrives.

Plan headroom for a launch traffic spike

Launches concentrate traffic, and each photo try-on uses a credit on paid plans, so check your headroom before the drop. Starter includes 100 photo credits, Growth 300, and Scale 600 photo or video credits; additional credits bill at $0.14, $0.12, and $0.10 respectively, usage-based through Shopify with no contracts. The Free plan allows unlimited try-ons but caps at $100 of additional revenue and shows Looksy branding — a tight ceiling for a launch you are promoting. If you expect a spike, moving up a tier for the launch month is usually simpler than absorbing per-credit overage on a small plan.
