Does adding try-on affect my page SEO?
Not directly. Looksy adds a try-on block alongside your product content — it does not rewrite the copy, images, or markup search engines rank. The one measurable question is page speed, so test your store before and after enabling it.
What search engines rank on a product page
Rankings for a product page come from its content: the title, product description, image alt text, structured data, internal links, and how the page performs. A try-on block sits alongside that content as an interactive element — it does not rewrite your product copy, replace your images, or edit your theme’s templates. Adding Looksy therefore does not add ranking content, and it does not take any away. If your product pages rank today, the same words and markup are doing the work afterwards; if they do not, a widget of any kind will not change that.
Page speed is the real question — measure it
Any third-party element added to a page can affect load performance, and page experience is part of how search engines evaluate pages, so speed is where the honest SEO answer lives. Do not take anyone’s word for it, including ours: run your product page through a speed test before enabling try-on and again after, then compare. The method is laid out in our guide on whether virtual try-on slows down your store. If the before-and-after numbers are equivalent on your theme and your pages, the SEO question is settled for your store specifically.
Why the theme app extension model matters
Looksy installs as a theme app extension: you add and position the block in Shopify’s theme editor, and the app makes no edits to your theme code. That matters for SEO hygiene in two ways. First, the markup search engines already read — your theme’s templates, structured data, and content — is not modified during install. Second, uninstalling is clean: because nothing was written into the theme, removing the app does not leave orphaned code behind, a common problem with older apps that edited theme files directly and a known source of leftover scripts on Shopify stores.
What try-on will not do for your SEO
Being direct: try-on is not an SEO tool. It will not write product descriptions, earn backlinks, fix a slow theme, or move rankings on its own, and Looksy publishes no claims that it does. Its job is on-page — letting shoppers see products on themselves — while your content and site performance keep doing the ranking work. After enabling, watch Core Web Vitals in Google Search Console the way you would after any theme or app change, and if you notice anything specific to the try-on block, raise it with Looksy support through the App Store listing.
