Does virtual try-on work on mobile?

Yes. Looksy runs in the phone's browser, on the product page. The shopper uploads one photo — taken on the spot or from their camera roll — and sees the result there. No app download, no account, nothing to install.

What the shopper does on a phone

The try-on button sits on your product page, in the shopper's mobile browser. They tap it, add one photo — either taken on the spot or picked from the camera roll — and the result appears on the same page. There is nothing to install and no account to create, so the flow survives the short attention span of mobile browsing. Shoppers can retry with a different photo, download the result, or share it, and sharing is where mobile beats desktop: the image goes straight into messages or a group chat.

Photo mode never asks for camera permission

The standard photo flow does not request live camera access. When a shopper adds a photo, their phone's own picker opens — the same one every mobile site uses — and they choose whether to take a new shot or use an existing one. That matters on mobile, where a camera-permission prompt from an unfamiliar widget is exactly the point people bail. The one exception is realtime video try-on on the Scale plan, which does use the live camera and asks for permission the way any video call would. Photo try-on, available on every plan, never does.

It sits inside your mobile theme, not on top of it

Looksy installs as a Shopify theme app extension, so the try-on block sits inside your theme's page layout like any other section, not as an overlay floating on top of it. You add and position the block in the theme editor, the same place you edit the rest of the page. No theme code is edited during install, and removal is clean if you change your mind. If your product pages already work well on phones, the try-on sits within that layout; if they do not, Looksy will not fix a cramped mobile theme for you.

Test it on your own phone before shoppers do

The Free plan costs nothing and includes unlimited photo try-ons (with Looksy branding, and up to $100 of additional revenue), so the cheapest QA is your own phone. Install, open a product page in Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android, and run a try-on with a real photo of yourself. Check that the block sits where you want it, the upload picker opens, and the result is worth sharing. Once live, the analytics show what shoppers try on, add to cart and buy, so you can see whether mobile shoppers actually use it rather than guess.
