Does virtual try-on increase conversion rate?

It can — seeing a product on themselves removes a real reason for shoppers to hesitate — but Looksy publishes no conversion benchmarks, because honest numbers depend on your store. The reliable answer comes from measuring your own shoppers.

Why Looksy does not publish a conversion figure

Vendor conversion claims tend to travel badly. A lift measured on one store reflects its category, price point, traffic mix and season, and rarely transfers to another. Averages across stores hide more than they reveal, and cherry-picked case studies hide even more. So Looksy does not publish a conversion benchmark, and we would treat any try-on vendor quoting a universal uplift with some suspicion. That is not evasion — it is the same standard you would apply to any A/B test result: a number is only meaningful for the store it was measured on, under the conditions it was measured in.

The mechanism that can move conversion

The case for try-on is not magic; it is uncertainty removal. The single biggest unknown on a product page is how the item looks on the person buying it. A shopper who has seen the product on themselves has one less reason to close the tab, save it for later or abandon the cart at the last moment. Whether that turns into a measurable conversion lift on your store depends on how much of your drop-off is caused by that specific doubt — which is exactly why the question has to be answered with your own data, not someone else's.

How to measure it on your own store

Looksy's analytics show what shoppers try on, what they add to cart, and what they buy. Set those numbers against your store's normal add-to-cart and purchase rates for the same products, over a period long enough to smooth out promotions and seasonality, and judge on orders rather than days. Looksy also tracks the additional revenue it generates — the plan tiers are built around that figure — which lets you weigh the app's contribution in currency, not just percentages. If the additional revenue does not clear the subscription cost, you have your answer.

A test that costs nothing to run

The Free plan exists for exactly this question. It gives you unlimited try-ons, carries Looksy branding, and covers up to $100 of the additional revenue Looksy generates — enough to see whether shoppers on your store actually use try-on and buy afterwards, without a subscription on the line. Installation is a theme app extension: no theme code is edited and uninstalling leaves nothing behind, so the downside of a failed test is small. Run it, read your own numbers, and let them — not a vendor's marketing page — decide whether try-on earns a paid plan on your store.
