Can shoppers download and share try-on results?
Yes. When a try-on result appears on the product page, the shopper can download the image, share it, or retry with a different photo — all in the browser, with no app to install and no account to create.
What the shopper can do once the result renders
A shopper uploads one photo and the result appears on the product page, in the browser. From there they have three options: retry with a different photo if the first attempt was not flattering, download the image to their device, or share it. Nothing about this requires a Looksy account, an app download, or live camera access — the photo flow is deliberately kept inside the page the shopper was already on. The download is an ordinary image file, so it behaves like any other picture on their phone or laptop once saved.
Whose branding is on what they share
That depends on your plan. The Free plan carries Looksy branding; from the Starter plan at $14.99 a month upwards, that branding is removed. If shoppers passing images around group chats is part of why you want try-on, check this before you commit: run a try-on on the Free plan, download the result, and see exactly what a recipient would see. The shared image is a picture of your product on someone the recipient knows, and whether Looksy's branding sits anywhere near it is your call to make.
Where the downloaded image lives — and what Looksy keeps
Once a shopper downloads a result, that copy is theirs: it sits on their device and travels through whatever messaging or social apps they choose. Looksy has no control over an image after it leaves the page, which is how shoppers expect their own photos to work. What Looksy itself stores, and for how long, is a separate question — we cover it properly in the FAQ on shopper photo privacy rather than compressing it here. The short version for this page: downloading and sharing are shopper-initiated actions, not something the widget does on their behalf.
Can you tell whether shared images bring sales back?
Partly. Looksy's analytics shows what happens on your own store — which products get tried on, added to cart and bought — so you can see whether shoppers who try on go on to purchase. What it cannot show is an image's life after it leaves the page: there is no tracking attached to a downloaded file, and we do not publish figures claiming shared results drive sales, because we do not have them. If you want a signal, watch for the ordinary traces word of mouth leaves — direct traffic to tried-on products, or shoppers mentioning a friend's photo — and treat anything firmer with suspicion.
