# Image Requirements for Virtual Try-On

> Understand how product images affect virtual try-on results. Learn what helps and what Looksy needs to deliver great results.

## Looksy Works With Any Product Images

Looksy works with your existing Shopify product images—no special photography or setup required. The AI adapts to any image style, background, lighting, or angle.

## What Actually Helps

While Looksy works with any images, these factors improve accuracy and realism:

### Multiple Angles (Up to 4 Images)

**What helps:**

* Different views of the garment (front, side, back, detail shots)
* Shows the AI more context about the product
* Looksy uses up to 4 product images per try-on

**Why it helps:** More angles give the AI better understanding of garment structure, fit, and details.

### Close-Ups on Texture and Material

**What helps:**

* Detail shots showing fabric texture
* Close-ups of patterns, embellishments, or prints
* Images highlighting material properties

**Why it helps:** The AI renders textures more accurately when it can see fabric details clearly.

### Showcasing Garment Details

**What helps:**

* Images that show unique design elements
* Clear views of collars, sleeves, hemlines, and other features
* Photos highlighting special details or embellishments

**Why it helps:** Better visibility of details leads to more realistic rendering in the try-on result.

## Image Quality Factors

These technical factors can improve results but are NOT required:

### Resolution

* **Higher resolution helps** – More detail for the AI to work with
* **Minimum:** 800px wide
* **Recommended:** 1200px+ wide
* **Reality:** Looksy works with any resolution; higher is better but not essential

### File Format

* **JPG or PNG** – Standard Shopify formats work perfectly
* **File size** – Any size works; Looksy uses what's on Shopify

## What Doesn't Matter

These factors do NOT affect virtual try-on quality:

### Backgrounds

* ✓ **Any background works** – Plain, complex, busy, outdoor, indoor, patterned
* ✓ **No background removal needed** – The AI handles isolation automatically
* ✓ **Keep your existing photos** – No need to reshoot on white or gray backgrounds

### Lighting

* ✓ **Lighting is not critical** – The AI adapts to any lighting conditions
* ✓ **Works with natural or artificial light** – Studio lighting not required
* ✓ **Shadows and uneven lighting are fine** – The AI compensates automatically

### Angles and Framing

* ✓ **Any angle works** – Front-facing, side view, angled shots all work
* ✓ **Composition is flexible** – Centered, off-center, cropped images all work
* ✓ **Model poses don't matter** – Stylized poses, arms up/down, seated, standing all work
