# Your First Virtual Try-On

> Test Looksy virtual try-on for the first time with this step-by-step walkthrough. See how it works from your customer's perspective.

## Experience Virtual Try-On Yourself

Before promoting virtual try-on to customers, experience it yourself. This helps you understand the customer journey and identify any optimization opportunities.

## Step 1: Navigate to a Product Page

1. Open your Shopify store in a browser
2. Go to any product page (try-on is enabled on all products by default)
3. Look for the **"Try On"** button on the product image

<Note>
  The button appears on your product images and works on desktop and mobile automatically.
</Note>

## Step 2: Click "Try On"

Click the button to launch the virtual try-on experience.

**What happens:**

* A modal or overlay opens
* You're prompted to upload or take a photo
* Instructions guide you through the process

## Step 3: Upload a Selfie

You have two options:

### Option A: Upload an Existing Photo

1. Click **"Upload Photo"**
2. Select a photo from your device
3. Choose a photo (full body shot works best)

### Option B: Take a New Photo

1. Click **"Take Photo"** (on mobile)
2. Allow camera access when prompted
3. Face the camera directly
4. Take the selfie

<Check>
  **Best selfie practices:**

  * **Full body shot works best** – Shows the complete garment
  * **One person only** – Must be a single person
  * **Human photos** – No cartoons, animals, or illustrations

  The app works with any photo. You don't need to worry about lighting, expression, sunglasses, hats, facing the camera directly, or how recent the photo is.
</Check>

<Warning>
  **Image validation protects your credits.** If the image doesn't meet requirements, the customer gets an error message explaining what's wrong. This prevents abuse and wasted credits.
</Warning>

## Step 4: Wait for the Result

After uploading:

* The AI processes the image (15-20 seconds)
* A loading indicator shows progress
* **The customer can keep browsing** – They can scroll, view other images, or explore the product page while the image generates
* The virtual try-on result appears when ready

<Tip>
  The customer journey doesn't stop. They can continue shopping while the try-on generates.
</Tip>

## Step 5: Evaluate the Result

The result shows how the garment looks on you. You can toggle between the try-on result and the original product image by tapping on the images.

**What to check:**

* Does the garment look realistic?
* Are colors accurate?
* Would this help you make a purchase decision?

<Note>
  The AI model delivers highly realistic results across all product types. Better product photos and selfies produce better outputs, but the app works with any images.
</Note>

<Warning>
  **Revealing products:** Lingerie, swimwear, and very revealing garments may fail to generate results. This protects against misuse. Disable these products if you encounter issues.
</Warning>

## Step 6: Test on Mobile

The app works on mobile automatically—no extra setup needed. Test to verify:

1. Open your store on your phone's browser
2. Navigate to the same product page
3. Click **"Try On"**
4. Take a selfie with your phone's camera
5. Evaluate the result

<Tip>
  If it works on desktop, it works on mobile. The app uses responsive design and adapts automatically.
</Tip>

## Step 7: Ask Team Members to Test

Get feedback from others:

1. Ask teammates to try virtual try-on
2. Have them use their own phones and selfies
3. Gather feedback on the experience

### Questions to Ask

* Was it easy to find the button?
* Was the process intuitive?
* Would you use this when shopping?
* Did it work well on your device?
